What to eat and what to say away from at TGI Friday's

Another obstacle I am going to have today is that it is Friday which means that it's the night that we eat out. I  got an awesome coupon for a free entree from TGI Friday's.  But I am going to be smart and look up their menu ahead of time and search for nutritional facts so I do not go in blind.  You can look up Friday's nutritional menu on their website.

THINGS TO STAY AWAY FROM AT FRIDAYS (BASICALLY EVERYTHING):

(1) Hibachi Chicken Skewers
For a whopping 1330 calories and 187 grams of carbs, 41 grams of fat.  Would you ever think simple chicken skewers could cause such havoc on your waistline?

(2) New York Cheddar and Bacon Burger
One of my husband's favorite things to order, this is 1540 calories, 104 grams of carbs, 100 grams of fat.  YES 100 GRAMS OF FAT!!!!!!!!  Even on my fat days I just can't imagine eating that much fat!! IT'S ATROCIOUS!!!!!

BETTER THINGS TO ORDER ON THE MENU AT FRIDAY'S
Of course eating out is never the best option since you are not the one in control of your own food, but face it, are we just going to hibernate and NEVER go out again for the rest of our lives?  Of course not.  You just have to be smart about it.

(1) Balsamic-Glazed Chicken Cesar Salad
This has 490 calories, 25 grams of carbs and 26 grams of fat.  I am unsure if this includes the actual dressing or not.  Order it with the low fat balsamic vinaigrette salad dressing for an extra 80 calories, 15 grams of carbs and 3 grams of fat.

(2) Dragonfire Chicken/Salmon
The chicken version of this dish has 660 calories, 0 trans fat, 95 carbs, and 15 grams of fat.  The salmon version has 600 calories, 46 grams of carbs, and 30 grams of fat.

(3) Steaks
There are some better options on the steak section such as the 6oz Sirloin for 370 and 24 grams of fat.  Be careful of the combos though and of the sides that you order.

(4) Sides
Broccoli is always a great choice.  With only 50 calories, 10 carbs and 0.5 grams of fat, this should always be the go-to side, especially here at Fridays.  The Ginger-Lime Slaw is also not so bad at 80 calories, 9 carbs and 4.5 grams of fat and neither is the tomato mozzarella salad at 110 calories, 5 carbs and 8 grams of fat.

Now that I see what my options are, I will probably go for the Balsamic-Glazed Chicken Cesar Salad.  I am trying to stay as low-carb as reasonably possible.
